One of our favourite locations to bring our foreign motorcycle guests is Gl. Skovridergaard, deep in the picturesque Lake Highlands in the center of Jutland. The area is surrounded by beautiful forests, and intertwined with roads that are filled with adventures. You can use several days exploring the nice roads and interesting culture you'll find in the Lake Highlands around Silkeborg.

SAM MANICOM - MOTORCYCLE TRAVELLER & 'ACCIDENTAL' AUTHOR

So who is Sam Manicom, and why should you care? Well, this is a man who went out and did what a fair few of us have always wanted to do. Say goodbye to life as we know it, and set off on a long motorcycle adventure. In just his first year on the road, he was shot at twice, arrested three times, thrown in jail, and had a seventeen bone fracture accident crossing the desert in Namibia.

JUPITER'S TRAVELLERS COMPANION

MOTORBIKE EUROPE has recently earned the title of "Jupiter's Travellers Companion", as an acknowledgement of our ongoing support for the Foundation and its aims, and our dedication and desire to continue promoting motorbike travel, and sharing experiences for the benefit of motorcycle travellers worldwide.

The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage and assist travellers in making an extra effort to develop their observations and insights into something of value for the rest of the world to share, whatever their medium of expression might be, from film, to literature. Or in other words:

"Encouraging those who adventure into the world to go the extra mile and transform their experiences into something of value for the world to share."

CAP’S AARHUS A/S, AUTHORIZED HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALER

All roads lead to Aarhus, and CAP’s A/S Authorized Harley-Davidson Dealership. On April 5, 1997, the shop doors opened for the first time. It was snowing on that particular day in April, but that didn’t stop motorbikers from near and far, pulling up outside on their motorcycles, to attend the day's festivities. It was indeed a festive day, and marked the beginning of what Harley-Davidson in Denmark has now evolved into. 15 years have been dedicated to servicing and selling motorbikes, and the store is still situated at the end of the road, where the Harley-universe in Denmark begins.

MEET WITH AARHUS, DENMARK

From the Viking trading town near the sea, to the world's smallest metropolis, Aarhus, or Aros as the Vikings called the city, lies along the river Aros, which, in the old days, was the highway into the hinterland. Aarhus is Denmark's third oldest city after Ribe and Hedeby. Late in the 8th century, the ancient trading center lay on the north side of the Aros river, making the city excellent for trading. It was easy for the Vikings to get to Aros by sea, and they could sail many miles into the hinterland using the inland river system, in their slim Viking Longships.
